Aventurine
Aventurine is a form of quartz. It is most commonly green but also comes in shades of blue, yellow, red, orange, grey and brown. It is characterised by bright inclusions of Mica and platy minerals that give a shimmering or glistening effect to the stone, this is known as aventurescence
Found in many countries including Europe, India, Tanzania, Brazil and across northern Asia
Aventurine can fade if left in the sun for long periods so is best stored in a dark place. It can also react to extreme temperatures so don’t leave it outside for too long
Hardness – 6.5 - 7
Cleaning/Cleansing - It can safely be washed in warm soapy water using a soft brush or cloth. If you don't want to use water - You can place it on selenite for a few hours, using Sage or Palo Santo smoke, it can be buried in salt or in the Earth
Charging - The best way to charge green aventurine is to leave it under a full moon. This will both charge your crystal and cleanse it of negative energy. It can also be placed amongst foliage and left there during daylight for the day (see above about temperatures)
Body – Used for general healing, it benefits the nervous system, balances blood pressure and stimulates the metabolism, lowering cholesterol.
Aventurine has an anti-inflammatory effect and can ease skin eruptions, migraines, and soothes the eyes
Mind - May be used to help relieve stress, it calms anger & irritation, bring about inner peace and stimulate one’s imagination. Promotes feelings of well-being
Magical Properties – Lore says that it enhances prosperity and can bring career success. Aventurine is known as the lucky talisman and the stone of opportunity
Uses – Sleeping with a small piece under your pillow may aid restful sleep; carrying a piece in your pocket/purse/bag can make sure that opportunities find their way to you; place a piece in your bath if you are in need of more luck, joy, or emotional wellbeing; wear jewellery made with aventurine as that will allow you to absorb it’s healing properties on a daily basis; use in meditations when focusing on the heart chakra
