A common question people have is 'How do I choose the right deck?'
The answer is simple: You use your intuition.
It is often said that the deck must be gifted or given, but in my opinion this is, by & large, total hogwash.
Think about it. If you use your intuition to read the cards, why would you not use it to choose them?
Also, you ARE allowed to buy your decks online! Shopping in a witchy store is not always possible. Perhaps your nearest store is miles from home, or you don't do well around others in small spaces.
Online stores are ideal as you can still take your time in the comfort of your own home, without having to travel or have any of the anxieties as you might in a real store.
There ARE some tips that can help, though.
1) Think about the kind of art that attracts you. What really draws you in? What styles speak to your imagination?
2) Ask yourself if you think one word describing or naming the card is enough, or would you prefer to have a short poem or a few key words?
3) Do you have a theme in mind for your ideal deck? Who or what entities do you have affinity for that might resonate with a particular type of deck?
For me, I usually get a feeling that I need a new deck without knowing why I need it. When this happens, I sit with the feeling for a while and look for any signs or symbols that may show me what kind of theme I need from a deck. Then I will go online and scroll to get an idea of what is available. At this point something usually stands out (and on occasion it isn't what I thought it would be!) so when the time is right (or my bank balance allows!) I go ahead and purchase.
One of these decks in this picture came by fate, one from a feeling that I needed an animal deck. One was all bout my magickal practise, & one is simply because the art speaks to me. I own several that are for the tradition of my ancestors, to name but a few of the reasons I chose the decks that I have.
You will have your own reasons for choosing yours, but as long as you've listened to your intuition you can be sure it is right for you.
